Code of Conduct ZESS 2022-2023

The Tsawalk Learning Centre was created through a partnership among the Nanaimo Aboriginal Centre, School District #84 (Vancouver Island West), the Mid Island Metis Association and the Boys and Girls Club of Central Vancouver Island. This unique program has offered safety and success for rural and urban young people who have struggled with traditional forms of schooling through culturally responsive pedagogy and a focus on Indigenous ways of knowing. The education transformation movement in British Columbia, including the BC Redesigned Curriculum, has offered the flexibility to help educators meet the needs of young people where and how makes the most sense for them. This video project was developed by Dr. Paige Fisher at Vancouver Island University with funding support from the BC Ministry of Education. Videographer Levi Hildebrand helped make the ideas come to life in film.
